![]() ![]() ![]() Every year more worlds are brought into the Empire, and the frontiers press hungrily outward. The Empire is growing too large, too cumbersome, though no one will admit it, or at least, no one who matters. Never enough ships to cover the vast areas of open space. Starcruisers patrol up to the Rim, but there are It's easy to get lost out there, far away from everything. Beyond the Rim lies uncharted darkness, where no stars shine and few ships go. Strange planets and stranger people can be found on the edge of Empire, where habitable worlds are few and civilization grows thin. I may not be enjoying it in the same way a Left 4 Dead or Fall Out frenetic way, but I do like the feel of its more leisurely pace. I haven't played in a year but at one time X3 was almost all I played: it's the sort of game that once I get into, I'm kinda hooked. Granted, this is all with mods - but the vanilla game does have the derelict ships to find, which makes starting off leagues easier. Then I start using that for assassination missions, and keep the ball rolling. I'll work out a few small missions while trading, scout around, and generally try to keep myself in a low-profile mode until I can afford a better fighter craft. During this time, I try to explore as much as I can in my acquired scout to pass the time. Now I've got a repaired Trade ship, a good Transport ship, and a serviceable Scout ship. My second big task is to try and find another derelict "transport" class ship, which I use to increase my trade. Once it's fixed, you can start doing faster manual trades and keep exploring. After that's done, I need to fix my ship - which is a long process of manual trading with a SLOW ship. I've memorized where a "freebie" derelict ship is near where you start - which makes that my first task. I like to start with the Teladi Trader, which gives me a battered old hauler to start with. I forgot that people here don't give reasons.Getting your first few trade ships in X3 is always the absolute hardest, sloggest, pain-in-the-assest part of the game. So yeah, give me replies! And then give me reasons as to why these games/mods are your favorite.Īnd one last thing, I tried playing Albion Prelude with my Logitech Dual Action, and the bindings were really stupid and were nothing like the Xbox Controller layout that I figured it might be like, so how would I change these bindings? I couldn't find anywhere to change them, so I have no idea what I'm doing. Which is another thing, if you play your favorite with mods, which ones do you use? I was currently looking at PSCO1 CockpitMod for X3: Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude (it is compatible with both, right?), and then it had a separate download for one if you use XTended for X3 Reunion. I want to know, which has the best content as in story, weapons, ships, and which has the best mods. So, before I progressed any further, I decided to return to SteamGifts and ask you guys, which one is your favorite, and why so? Which one would be the easiest one to just pick up having never played an X game (but has played Freelancer and X-Wing/Tie Fighter games)? As you may know, Humble Bundle had their Humble Weekly Bundle Egosoft a few days ago, and I tried to get started with X3 Albion Prelude since it was the latest, but I really haven't done anything in it yet. ![]()
